Emily is a worship leader, and songwriter from Southwest Oklahoma. She began her rich history of music, playing the piano and singing at age eight. As she continues to follow after Gods plan for her, and pursue her love for music, Emily travels and ministers all over the United States leading worship for thousands.
Emily has been called by many a gifted singer, songwriter, worship leader, and speaker, leading congregations in worship for over 13 years. This gift is evident with her passionate approach in worshiping God, teaching others the importance and history of worship, helping people draw close and connect with Him using music as a tool.
"I always knew that I wanted to write songs that would speak to the hearts, and help hurting people, songs that would aid someone when they cannot find the words to express." Emily says.
Releasing her first two albums as an indie artist, 'It's All For Your Name' in August 2009 and 'Songs Of Joy And Peace' in November the same year.
Now, signed with the label TMG, Emily has just released her third album. 'Free' Oct. 18, 2011. Emily was signed as a Christian Recording Artist with the label Tate Music Group on April 23, 2010. You can find her music on iTunes; Amazon; and thousands of digital sights, as well as Hastings in SW Oklahoma, Salt Cellar, and of course her website. www.emilyjohnsonmusic.com
Her album 'Free' features new songs of worship, birthed from the intimate time spent with God. The deeply personal 'How Can I Not Sing To You' is a favorite of hers. "This song is so special to me. There are times when you are so broken, then God comes in, raises my head, and sings His promises over me, and in those moments all I can do is ask, God how can I not sing to You, how can I not praise You, for all You've done for me?" "I believe it is one song that people can use to remember that God is so faithful to us, and so worthy of our worship. That He never fails or leaves us."
"This album is about hope and life; it's about lifting the broken and lonely, singing love and truth over them, and being free to worship" says Emily. "The songs create intimate moments, and outward shouts of praise! It’s my hope that all of these songs find the broken and lift them to a place of praise to God for what he's done."
Whether leading worship at her home church or in other settings around the country, for Emily, the work of ministry always comes back to people. " I am moved by people's lives and want to minister to them in times of trouble, to lead them to the feet of Jesus who can bring peace, life, hope, healing, and freedom."
Emily resides in Lawton, Oklahoma with her husband Kenric; they have two sons, Aaron and Jeremiah, whom they consider two of the greatest treasures God has entrusted to them.
